REQUIREMENTS AND ADMISSION PROCEDURES

 

Those persons who wish to be admitted at the Escuela Hotelera de San Juan must meet the following admission requirements:

1. Be a high-school graduate or have approved the Puerto Rico Department of Education high-school equivalency exam, and present evidence thereof.

2. Complete the admission application.

3. Be a citizen or a legal resident of the United States. Must present an original copy of the birth certificate or any other acceptable document, as the case may be.

4. Pay the admission fee.

5. The student should present other documents not required for admission. These include: a health certificate issued by the Puerto Rico Department of Health, and a vaccination certificate if under 21 years of age.

If the applicant meets most but not all of the requirements, he or she may enroll if he or she is able to show that the requirement yet to be fulfilled will be delivered on or before 10 days prior to commencement of classes. Failure to comply with the delivery of the required documents during the 10 day period granted to do so might result in the enrollment cancellation. The institution might make exceptions, depending on the case.

Those persons who wish to be admitted to the institution will visit the School and will fill out the admission application, present the required evidence, and will pay the admission fee. It if is determined that the applicant meets the requirements to participate in the desired course, he or she will be favorably recommended and referred for an interview with the Admissions Director for his or her final admission.

Transfers, Validation

A student admitted through transfer from another institution must meet the following admission requirements:

1.Only transfer courses from accredited institutions will be accepted and must have been approved with a minimum grade of C.

2.The student will have a credit transcript to be sent directly to the EHSJ Registrar’s Office.

3.Hours from students who have interrupted studies for a period of more than five years will not be validated.

4.Courses transferred from other institutions will be considered to determine the program’s total hours , but will not be taken into account for the academic average.

5.Only a minimum amount of 9 credits will be accepted in transfer and the CUL-2000 will not be considered for purposes of validation.

6.The hours / credits accepted in transfer should be equivalent to the credit value intended to be validated.
